A touching story of lost families. I was confused that all three of my children were lost. The tour guide, who is 32 years old, has personally seen the fast modernization of Addis Ababa. However, this has come at a great expense to the city's architectural heritage.

The places she usually brings visitors to see the history of Addis Ababa, like Postabet's shops and Leghar's railway station, are now vanishing. Wegayehu says that tourists enjoy listening to the stories that are associated with these old places. "They always purchase keepsakes from the stores in Postabet. "

However, lately she has observed more and more old buildings being destroyed in these areas, to make room for new and shiny buildings that are being built instead. Wegayehu thinks that it is unavoidable for Addis Ababa to become modern, but she also wants the city's history to be saved and not forgotten.

"Sure, the new parks and buildings look nice," she says. "But we shouldn't prioritize the new designs if it means losing the beauty and uniqueness of the old buildings. " Wegayehu loves Addis Ababa's old railway stations, shops, and churches, which are part of the city's charm.

These historic buildings are as important to Wegayehu as the new towers that symbolize the city's modernity. However, if development proceeds without considering the historical significance of buildings, the city may lose not only its architectural beauty but also the meaningful stories surrounding the buildings.
