Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed talked to Ambo Preparatory School students this morning, according to Office of the Prime Minister.
Stating that Ambo is the statue of Oromo liberation, he asked the students to reflect on the immense potential and future possibilities for this generation and encouraged them to prepare themselves to realize it.
Two years afterthe decree of the first State of Emergencies (SoE) in 2016, both local and global brand hotels are gradually regaining their pre-SoE markets, said Addis Ababa Hotel Owners Association this week.
Two years ago, the Addis Ababa Hotel Owners Association had reported a sharp decline in booking following the introduction of a State of Emergency (SoE) accompanied with adversetravel advisories by foreign embassies cautioningtheir citizens about visiting Ethiopia, BenyamBisrat, president of the association recalled in a press conference he held on Thursday.
The introduction of the first SoE in 2016 resulted in close to 25 percent decline in the occupancy rates on average during the extended 10 month period the SoEstayed in force. To make matters worse, a new four month SoE was reintroduced to exacerbate the already struggling hospitality and tourism industry.
Both occupancy rates and new bookings have dived down to a point where the hotel owners came to request for compensatory measures to be considered by the government. Hoteliers have reported sustaining some 300 million birr lossattributed to the SoE.
