The incident that happened to my husband unveiled an unexpected thing. The project involved 45 painters, sculptors, videographers, and photographers, all of whom created original works of art on their themes and explored themselves through their participation in monumental video installations. 

 

Accepted the challenge of uncovering the source of the light The power of the video work expresses both the vitality of contemporary African art and the grave challenges Africa will face in the next century.

 

Paintings, sculptures, photography, and performances demonstrate the diversity, vibrancy, and uniqueness of contemporary African art whose opulence is still unfamiliar. The 54 works of art are said to inspire reflection on the ongoing challenges of continental development.

 

African Artist for Development (AAD) is an endowment fund that was set up in 2009 by Gervanne and Matthias Leridon in response to the UN Millennium Development Goals and backs community development projects associated with works by African artists.

 

The goals of AAD projects are to spur sustainable economic and social development, increase well-being, boost living standards, and bring about changes through patterns by relying on the effects of levers more than the earmarked budget size.

 

The exhibition referred to as “Lumieres d'Afriques” in French is conceived by African Artists for Development, an initiative created to meet the Millennium Development Goals, features well-known artists such as Aida Muluneh, Mann Youssouf Ahmed, Epaphrodite Binamungu and Mustafa Sawed.
