The case of the Ethiopian coffee and Saint George players. Tanzania and Ethiopia kicked off their 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign with a goalless draw in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday. Both teams struggled to create clear-cut opportunities in the Group H qualifying match characterized by physical battles and cautious play. The opening minutes were marked by a lack of attacking urgency from both sides. Tanzania managed a few goal attempts, but Ethiopian goalkeeper Seid Habtamu Aregawi was largely untroubled.

Ethiopia, on the other hand, found space on the flanks but met stiff resistance from the Tanzanian defense. The first half ended with neither side able to penetrate the opposition’s defense, leaving the scoreline unchanged at 0-0. Tanzania made a change at the break, bringing on Pascal Msindo, while Ethiopia introduced Binyam Fikre and Adis Giday. At the 17th Paralympic Games in Paris, Ethiopia’s Yayesh Gete secured the second gold medal for her country after her commanding victory in the 1,500m women’s blind race (T-11) final

She clocked a personal best of 4:27.68, improving her own time by four seconds. Recall that Ethiopia’s first gold medal at the Paris Paralympic Games 2024 was secured by Tigist Gezahagn in the women’s 1500m T13 final.
