What happened to the Ethiopian athlete

What happened to the Ethiopian athlete in America? Ethiopian athletes shined in a week that saw athletes perform in one of the best races to be held annually. The 2022 World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series was held on May 31, 2022, with the Golden Spike in Ostrava, Czech Republic, with various athletes across the world competing in the event. Several Ethiopian athletes participated in different disciplines, managing to come up with good results.

Lemecha smashed the indoor competition finishing with 7:58.68 while his compatriot, Hailemariam Tegegn came in second with a time of 8:07.70. The 2020 Tokyo Olympic silver medalist, Lemecha, managed to break the national record registered by him when he won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships in Doha. He also took silver at the 2022 World Indoor Championships held in Belgrade a couple of months ago.

In the 1500 m women's meeting, three Ethiopian athletes dominated proceedings, with 20-year-old, Diribe Welteji, continuing to impress following up her win in Nairobi earlier this month with a time of 3:59.19. Lemecha Girma, who specializes in the 3000m steeplechase, became the first athlete to come in under eight minutes in the Ostrava Gold level meeting.
