Dr Abiy Ahmed arrived in the city of Axum, Tigray regional state, this morning.
Upon arrival in the city, he was welcomed by Dr Debretsion Gebremichael, Deputy Chief Administrator of the regional state.
The Prime Minister and his delegation reviewed the threats facing the Axum obelisk, a testament to Ethiopia’s historic civilizations.
During his visit, the Premier also held discussion with representatives the community members in the city, including religious leaders, elders, and youth.
They raised various questions to the Premier, calling on his government to find lasting solution for the endangered obelisk and for the chronic water scarcity in the city.
The residents also raised questions on issues related to infrastructure development, federalism, constitution, upcoming election, peace and security, budget allocation, Ethio-Eritrea relations, among others.
The community members appreciated the Prime Minister’s responsiveness to the call residents made to hold discussions with him.
