Dr Abiy Ahmed said the establishment of the Prosperity Party (PP) has taken all the required legal steps.
Scholars had conducted a study and the establishment of the party has been discussed by leadership at all levels. The Oromo Democratic Party (ODP) and the Amhara Democratic Party (ADP) also unanimously approved the merger of the ruling coalition- EPRDF.
The Southern Ethiopian Peoples’ Democratic Movement (SEPDM) is expected to approve the merger, the Primer said.
Hence, “all these steps verify that the formation of the party have passed through all the necessary processes and legal steps,” the Prime Minister said.
He said the plan which the newly merged party has developed with a target of creating a prosperous Ethiopia over the coming 10 years will be tabled to the public and members of the party for consultations and enrichment.
The Prime Minister further said programs included in the party aim to foster genuine federalism, democracy, peace, equality, freedom, rule of law and economic growth.
The Prime Minister also called on opposition groups to come up with new ideas and alternative programs to become winner, instead of accusing the newly merged Prosperity Party.
