This afternoon inaguarted the 175-km long Bahir Dar-Zema River-Felege Berhan asphalt concrete road built in Amhara regional state.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedu Andargachew and Transport Minister, Dagmawit Mogess, together with other senior federal and regional state officials attended the inauguration ceremony of the road built at a cost of 2.4 billion birr.
The full cost of construction of the road was funded by the Government of Ethiopia, according to the Ethiopian Roads Authority.
The road project was built in two packages by the Chinese Sinohydro and China Railway Seventh Group (CRSG).
The inauguration of the new road will reduce the travel distance between Bahir Dar-Debremarkos-Addis Ababa, which was 540km, by 80km.
Accordingly, it would help residents of the area to get access to transport service at reasonable prices, besides enabling framers to supply their products to the central and overseas markets without any problems.
In the morning, the Deputy Premier, together with Chief Administrator of Amhara regional state, Temesgen Tiruneh and other officials, held discussion with residents of Bichena town.
