On the invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Sudanese new Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok will pay a two-day state visit to Ethiopia.
Charge d’ Affairs of the Embassy of Sudan to Ethiopia, Ambassador Anas E. Elgailani told The Ethiopian Herald that Prime Minister Hamdok is scheduled to arrive in Addis Ababa on Thursday.
The Prime Minister is expected to meet with PM Dr Abiy Ahmed to hold bilateral talks on various topics including economic cooperation and border security.
“The two sisterly countries have so far signed many agreements covering wide-areas of cooperation. The Prime Minister’s visit is; therefore, to reactivate agreements already reached,” the Ethiopian Herald quoted the Ambassador as saying.
As the visit is to be held on the heels of the last week’s Ethio-Sudan Business Forum held in Addis, the economic cooperation between the two sides will gain further momentum, he said.
“We want Ethiopian banks to open branches in Khartoum and vice versa.”
