Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedu Andargachew, today held discussion with European Union (EU) and ambassadors of 11 European countries.
The discussion came following the request of the ambassadors to meet the Ethiopian Foreign Minister.
In his opening remark, Johan Borgstam, EU Ambassador to Ethiopia, thanked Gedu for responding to the request in a short period of time.
Ambassador Borgstam extended his deep condolences over the recent killing of senior officials and wished their families consolation.
EU fully supports Ethiopia’s reform agenda and is happy with the ongoing economic reform, he indicated.
The Union would provide €1.4 billion until 2020 for the success of the economic reform.
EU countries invest projects worth €1 billion annually in Ethiopia, thus showing the strong ties between Ethiopia and the Union. The EU is also keen to further elevate its ties with Ethiopia, he said.
The Ambassador also expressed his dissatisfaction with internet outage at various times, stating that it is hampering their daily activities. He called on the government to seek solution for the problem.
After briefing the ambassadors on the economic reform, Gedu urged them to contribute their shares in inviting companies to Ethiopia from their respective countries.
Regarding internet breakdowns, Gedu said his ministry would work with pertinent bodies to resolve the programs soon.
